Hare Krsna
This saturday Dec 24th is Saphala Ekadasi. Krsna is not so pleased by sacrifice or charity, as a devotee's observance of a full fast on Ekadasi. On Saphalaa Ekadasi devotee should worship Krnsa by offering fresh fruits according to time, place and circumstance, and by meditating on Krsna as the all-auspicious Supreme Personality of Godhead.
Lumpaka was the son of King Mahishmata. He was overpowered by the ill-association and was exiled by his father. During exile, he robbed the city in the night and stayed in the forest under banyan tree in the forest. One day due to illness, he couldn't eat on the Ekadasi day. He offered Lord Hari the fallen fruits. He ate the fruit next day and got the mercy of Lord Krsna. He became again beautiful prince, his heart was transformed and got the kingdom from his father. He observed Ekadasi fasting regularly and led Krishna Conscious life thereafter.
Fasting method:
Full eating is condemned on Ekadasi. Fasting on Ekadasi day is very pleasing to Krsna. One should avoid eating grains - rice, dal, chappathi, etc. all types of Grains on this day.
If one is able to observe the Ekadasi with water, that's the best. If one is not able to do the above, then he can take frutis, tender-coconut, Vegetables.
If one is not able to observe Ekadasi with frutis and water, due to bodily health, he can take Saamai rice and spend more time in reading and chanting about Krsna. The main aim of Ekadasi fasting is to find more time to think about Krsna and do more service and reduce sleeping time and eating time.
Thank you
